Soy Vs Whey Protein, Which is More Beneficial to Our Health?

Both whey and soy protein are incredible nutritious additions to any diet. These proteins are both complete proteins, which means they contain all the amino acids needed by the human body. These amino acids must be supplied to the body by food or supplement because the body cannot produce them. Although both proteins are complete and healthy for you, there is a difference between soy protein and whey protein. The following paragraphs will discuss soy versus whey protein.

When being compared as soy versus whey protein, research studies have shown similarities and differences. Both protein sources were shown to increase muscle mass in men, but soy protein provided additional health benefits. The men who consumed soy protein not only increased muscle mass, but also maintained healthy antioxidant status. Men who consumed whey protein did not. In many research studies of soy versus whey protein, soy protein proved to reduce free radical production during physical activity, and lessened muscle damage as well as fatigue. The conclusion is, men wishing to build muscle mass can take soy protein or whey protein, but men who desire better overall health, as well as muscle mass should consider soy.

Other research studies have tested the effects of soy versus whey protein on lipid peroxide levels in men participating in regular exercise. In this research study, men who consumed soy protein had reduced lipid peroxide levels as soon as five minutes after the completion of their exercise session.
