Using Natural Soy Products as Health Food Supplements
Many soy health food supplements are currently on the market. Some of the most popular forms of these health food supplements are soy protein shakes and soy protein bars. Other soy health food supplements are also commonly available in health food stores. But, are these health food supplements truly helpful in adding the benefits of soy to the daily diet?
A Matter of Debate
The answer to this question is debatable. All health experts do not agree about whether or not health food supplements are as valuable as getting nutrition by eating food containing the nutrients. The same debate takes place over taking vitamins and other nutrients in pill form, versus getting these vitamins from eating vitamin rich foods.

Experts simply are not sure if the body absorbs the nutrients from health food supplements as well as it does from natural food products. Most experts, however, do believe that eating soy supplements is just as beneficial as eating natural sources of soy. Furthermore, most of those who do not feel both forms are equally beneficial do agree that health food supplements provide at least a portion of the benefits received by eating foods natural food sources.
In addition, the purpose of eating the soy can also play a role into determining the value of the health food supplements. For example, soy protein shakes and protein bars have isolated the soy protein isolate, which is the source of protein in a soybean. These forms of soy protein contain a higher percentage of protein than eating a soybean itself. Therefore, soy protein supplements are likely to provide greater amounts of soy protein than eating soy nuts, for example.
A Convenient Additive
The convenience of health food supplements make it much easier to ensure beneficial soy is added to the diet. Protein bars can be grabbed an eaten as a quick snack. Protein shakes come available pre-mixed, or can be easily made by mixing the powder in water or milk. In addition, soy powder can be sprinkled into meals or added to drinks.
A Tasty Treat
Soy health food supplements also come in a wide array of tasty flavors. This also makes including soy in the diet more enjoyable than just eating soy nuts or cooked soybeans. Some flavors of soy protein bars, for example, include chocolate mint and fudge brownie. These health food supplements not only add soy to the diet, but help satisfy the sweet tooth, as well.
Natural soy products and soy health food supplements may or may not be equally beneficial. But, either way, soy health food supplements are beneficial and provide a convenient way to add the benefits of soy to the diet.
