The Advantages of Taking Soy Protein Supplements

A high protein diet isn’t necessarily the right answer for everyone. Most commonly, powder soy protein supplements are made from soy protein isolate, which is the most concentrated type of soy protein. Protein powder made from soy protein isolate is nearly 90% protein, while a beefsteak contains only 20% protein. Soybeans themselves contain about 40% protein.

Soy Protein Shakes

Powder soy protein supplements are most commonly found in the form of protein shakes. Soy protein shakes come in a wide variety of flavors. Some of these flavors include strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Some soy protein shakes are also available in liquid form in bottles or in cans. The liquid form of soy protein shakes are generally packaged as single servings.

Liquid soy protein shakes should be stored in the refrigerator and left unopened. They can generally be safely stored this way for up to two weeks. The powdered form of soy protein shakes can be stored in a cool, dark place for up to three months.

Soy protein shakes can be used as a drink replacement at meal time, or they can even be used to replace an entire meal. Many people enjoy mixing soy protein shakes with bananas, berries, or other fruit in a blender.

Soy Protein Bars

Protein bars are also a popular soy protein supplement. These bars also come in many flavors. Some poplar flavors include chunky peanut butter fudge, chocolate fudge brownie, chocolate mint, apple crisp, and cookies and cream. Soy protein bars come individually wrapped, like a candy bar, and can be eaten as a snack to add extra soy protein to the diet.
